Travel Cards Simplify Hotel Billing

Travel cards simplify matters when it comes time to pay for hotels or motels. These cards are similar to the gift cards now available in most department stores. By paying actual currency at a representative hotel or motel service desk, you can load the card with credit to be used while you are traveling. This reduces the amount of cash you need to carry while you are on your trip.

The best thing about using a travel card is that the hotels room bill is already paid. With a credit card, the day of reckoning is still in the future - when the credit card bill comes. Prepaid cards are safer because if they are stolen, they cannot have more debt run up on them than you are able to pay. This can happen with a credit card, and straightening out the mess can be challenging and still leave you with a financial loss.

Having a travel card does not negate the need for a credit card while traveling. A credit card is one form of identification that works as a further guarantee that the hotel or motel room bill will be paid. Travel cards can be used by anyone, though, which makes them handy for situations like school trips. The parent can load the card with as much money as the student will need for the motel room.

There is another form of travel card that keeps track of bonus points earned at a particular hotel chain. For instance, if you have a Best Western "unit" travel card, you will be able to access the units of reward you accrue by staying in a Best Western motel. These points can be spent on hotel room bills just like the reloadable travel card can. However, unlike the reloadable travel card, you will need to make advance reservations to use the unit card at a hotel.

You can order a travel card as a gift for someone who often needs money for hotel or motel rooms. If you order one, there will probably be a shipping and handling fee added to the money you are loading onto the card. You can add a customized message, and the recipient will be told the amount of money on the card, even though it is not written on the card itself.

If a person buys a motel travel card, they might lose track of how much money is still available on it. If this happens, there is a toll-free number that can be called. The traveler can call the number to find out how much they have available for paying hotel room bills.

The unit cards and the cash loaded travel cards are not interchangeable. That means you cannot add money to a point card or points to a money card. However, if there is not enough on a reloadable card to pay the entire hotel bill, you can pay the rest with a traditional credit card, or with cash, of course! ...
